A reply is easy to distort if a writing tool mistakes your dictated words for a comment it should answer. Comment reply style explicitly treats the recording as your intended reply. It preserves your first-person viewpoint, spoken actions and intentions while arranging the result as a friendly paragraph by default.
You still decide what the reply says. The preset does not read an incoming comment, inspect a conversation or compose a response from surrounding context. Read the original yourself, decide on the point you want to make, then dictate that point.
Capture your side of the conversation
- Open Styles and select Comment reply.
- To create a copy, choose New style → Template → Comment reply, review the name and prompt preview, choose an available speech model, and click New style.
- Check Text formatting in Rewrite before recording.
- Use Today's Start listening to test the selected style in-window. For global shortcut recording into a comment field, set Default style to Comment reply for unmatched destinations or link the app/site under Linked apps or Linked websites. A linked match takes priority over the default.
- Dictate your reply in the first person, including any handle you want included.
- Stop, review the draft, and decide whether it fits the original comment before posting.
For example, say: “I tried the smaller batch yesterday, and it worked for my sample file. I haven't tested larger imports yet.” An illustrative cleaned reply keeps both your experience and its limit. It should not become advice claiming that the method works for everyone's larger imports.
Make names and breaks deliberate
The preset preserves a clearly dictated handle, including its lowercase spelling, and adds no greeting, signature, hashtag or emoji by default. If you want one of those elements, dictate it or explicitly add it to your rules.
Names and handles can be difficult to recognize. Check the text after processing and use vocabulary for recurring spellings where appropriate. A visible handle in pasted text may still need selection or confirmation in the destination platform before it functions as a mention.
The default shape is one friendly paragraph. Explicit command breaks take priority when the style's Voice commands are enabled for this style. Voice commands default off per style, so test them first rather than assuming “next line” will insert a break.
Check what the reply commits you to
Review whether “I might try it” stayed tentative, whether “I tested it” still describes your action, and whether any factual limit disappeared. Then check how the reply reads in context. Concision is useful only if the point remains accurate.
If the style starts producing an unwanted style after customization, inspect its saved Prompt or review Reset to default before applying it. For a broader standalone idea, see Short post style. Use the Comment reply instructions and spoken command guide for the controls.
