Short Post Style: Tighten a Dictated Idea Without Adding a New Claim

An idea can be clear when spoken but repetitive when written. Short post style tightens your dictated draft while preserving its facts, actions, intentions and uncertainty. It is useful for a small update, an observation or a lesson you have already decided to share.

The preset does not supply a stronger claim to make the post more attention-grabbing. You provide the substance and any desired framing. A headline, call to action, link, emoji or hashtag appears only when dictated or explicitly supplied in your rules.

Start with one complete idea

• Open Styles and select Short post.
• For a custom copy, use New style → Template → Short post, review the prompt preview, choose an available speech model, then click New style.
• Check the Text formatting selection in Rewrite.
• Use Today's Start listening for an in-window test with the selected style. For global shortcut dictation into a post field, set Default style to Short post for unmatched destinations or link the app/site under Linked apps or Linked websites. Linked matches take priority over the default.
• Dictate the point, the supporting fact and any limitation you want readers to understand.
• Stop recording, review the result, and check the destination's length and formatting rules before publishing.

For example: “We reduced the number of steps in our onboarding draft from seven to four. We haven't measured completion rates yet, but the new version is easier for our team to explain.” The post should retain the distinction between a simpler draft and a measured improvement. Removing the qualification would turn an observation into an unsupported result.

Keep your layout intentional

Short post preserves deliberate line breaks instead of merging them into one paragraph. Where you have not dictated breaks, it can use short paragraphs. In the candidate, configure Voice commands for this style if you want phrases such as “new paragraph” to control the layout; commands default off per style.

The preset does not impose an arbitrary character limit. A concise draft may still be too long for the platform you choose. Check the actual destination counter and edit the post there if needed. A custom instruction can request a target length, but you should verify the result yourself.

The template starts with money and digit cleanup enabled and numbered lists disabled. Review quantities carefully, particularly if a post describes a result or comparison.

Edit for meaning before reach

Read the draft for the claim a stranger would take away. Did “our sample” become a universal assertion? Did “we plan to” become a completed launch? Did a necessary exception disappear? Correct those changes before adjusting the opening sentence.
