Sometimes you have the next thought ready before the previous recording has finished processing. Sonicribe's Allow a new recording while processing setting lets you capture another complete recording during that wait. It can help you keep related ideas moving without combining every thought into one long dictation.

The setting starts off. Leave it off if you prefer reviewing one result before recording the next. Enable it when you understand the destination workflow and can keep track of separate drafts.

Enable the setting and test a pair

  • Open Settings and find Recording.
  • Turn on Allow a new recording while processing.
  • Focus a disposable text field in your destination app.
  • Record a short first sentence and stop.
  • While it processes, start and stop a second short recording.
  • Wait for both results and review their order and wording.

For example, dictate “The introduction is ready” as one recording and “The next task is to review the examples” as another. These are separate complete recordings. Results paste in the order you recorded them, even when processing times differ.

Keep the destination predictable

Use a stable destination while practicing. A queued result still needs somewhere sensible to go, and switching among fields while several drafts are in flight makes it harder to notice a misplaced paragraph. Confirm the text in the intended application before sending or replacing anything.

This feature does not provide live partial transcripts. Starting a new recording while another job processes is different from watching words appear continuously as you speak. Each recording still needs to stop and complete its processing.

Styles also remain part of the workflow. Home uses the selected style; the global recording shortcut chooses an application link, website link, or Default style fallback. Check the relevant selection or assignments before the next recording. Concurrent processing does not infer whether a new thought belongs in an email, a note, or a coding brief.

Wait when the queue is busy

The queue is bounded. If you see Still processing, try again in a moment, let existing work finish before trying to start another recording. The message is a reason to wait, not to repeatedly press the recording shortcut.

Concurrent capture does not guarantee faster processing or reduce the credits used by separate jobs. It lets you use a waiting period to capture another thought. Network conditions, model availability, and formatting still affect when each draft is ready.

Recover a completed result carefully

Read the outputs before copying or submitting them. If a result did not paste where you expected, use the available result text or saved Transcripts to copy it manually. If processing failed, check the visible error; automatic retry is unavailable, so start a new recording only when you intend to make a new request.

Return to Settings and turn the setting off if the extra drafts make review harder. The processing-queue instructions and Transcripts guide explain the capture and recovery controls.
